The Republic of Cyprus withdraws the Communication made by Cyprus at the time of deposit
of the instrument of ratification of Protocol No. 6 to the Convention for the Protection
of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms concerning the Abolition of the Death Penalty,
on 19 January 2000.
Death penalty for the offences under Military Criminal Code and Procedure Law No.
40 of 1964 has been abolished by the Amending Law 39(I)/2002 of the Military Code
and Procedure Law.
Date of effect of the withdrawal of the communication: 14 February 2016.
